Retail · Illustrative scenario
Illustrative: a three-shop retailer makes stock numbers match across branches
How a growing retailer could see live stock and sales across shops and online in one system.
This is an illustrative scenario, not a delivered project. It is built from situations we commonly see, to show how we would approach the problem. The client is not real and no results are claimed.
The situation
Each shop keeps its own stock sheet, and the online orders are tracked in chats. Customers are promised items that are not on the shelf. Transfers between shops are remembered, not recorded. The owner finds out about slow-moving and out-of-stock items after the fact.
What we would do
We would start with inventory and point of sale for one shop to get an accurate count, then connect the other shops and the online orders to the same stock. Stock transfers and purchasing follow. We would keep the first release small, and only add reports once the counts are trusted.
What we would build
- Point of sale connected to live stock
- Stock transfers between shops
- Online orders drawing from the same stock
- Low-stock and slow-mover alerts
- Daily sales and stock summary for the owner
What we would measure
